Here we are lovely friends, moving forward with our second wine from Barrique’s Wall of 100. La Graviere Entre-Deux-Mers is a wine produced by Chateau La Graviere out of the Bordeaux region. It is 55% Semillon, 35% Sauvignon, and 10% Muscabelle. It’s vintage is 2015 and it rings in at 13%. This wine was $9.99 and certainly worth its price. Steven and I both are quite fond of Bordeaux wines, and this one did not disappoint. We tasted this wine on May 3rd, 2017 in the comfort of our apartment, and this time did not pair it with any food (sometimes simply enjoying the wine itself is enough).
Steven and I agreed on all aspects of this wine, so let’s jump right in.
The color depth was pale, the color hue was yellow, and the clarity was clear. The aroma intensity was moderate and the development had some age. The aromas we smelled were tree fruits including pear, apple, and peach.
Can you believe it’s already one of the best days of the year?! In case you haven’t seen all the foreshadowing on social media I’ll bring you up to speed. September 1st is the day it is FINALLY socially acceptable to start consuming ALL things pumpkin (And no, not pumpkin bleach…hahahaha…not funny…whoever thought of that should seriously think about who they are as a person, and then consume something pumpkin. Perhaps they’ll rethink their stupid gif).
Back to my happy place…pumpkin patches, hot pumpkin spice latte, warm pumpkin spice cookies, and then home to an oh so refreshing pumpkin beer. *Sigh*
Which brings me to today’s post. I thought I’d enlighten you with a mixture of my favorite things on this first day of September. Thus, Dogfish Head Punkin Ale; one of the best pumpkin beers out there.
Isn’t that a gorgeous looking beer? Yes, yes it is. It pours a beautiful orange with a nice layer of foam on top. The pumpkin flavor isn’t too overpowering or fake tasting, but rather smooth and subtle. The pumpkin pie spices and brown sugar smoothly dance over your tongue leaving you reminiscing about pumpkin pie and fond memories.
Good food…is there anything better?!
Hmmm…nope…other than it paired with good drink AND good company…nothing better.
I mean, why put anything in your mouth if it isn’t worth the time (ohp! dirty much?!)?!
My family and I attended The Taste of Madison this year, with Trapt playing at 2:50PM on the JJo stage, and whew, they were more than I ever expected them to be. Trapt has a special place in my heart due to my late best buddy and I both obsessing over them in high school and college…but beyond that, they are definitely a talented group. They put on a show like whoa, and I am SO glad/stoked I was able to see them in Madison at a local food/music fair next to the most beautiful capitol in the world.
Living in Madison, WI some people tend to forget we are spoiled to the MAX with music, food, and entertainment, but it’s true, and daily there is amazing events to attend and experience.
The Taste of Madison is one of these events…and this year, though stands tended to serve smaller servings, the actual food did not disappoint.
Following is the list of tasty foods and drinks we ingested during this years’ Taste of Madison 2015!
First up is the Black Raspberry Maui Wowi chosen by my little sister. It was served with an umbrella, so I am convinced it was super RAD!
Wisconsin drinks 1/3 of all the brandy Korbel makes.
75% of all brandy consumed in the US is consumed in Wisconsin.
Happiest of Mondays!
I have myself to be in quite the margarita kick as of recently (NOT complaining), so I thought I would share one of my favorites with you. It is a straight up, no frills, margarita, and to really kick it up a notch I added in some grapefruit (freshly squeezed of course!) to accompany the lime juice (also freshly squeezed…of course).
